Day 11: Finishing Up

(Hours: around 3 Scattered throughout the day)

Today was a lot more productive then the last. I got up early and drove over to Tilton where I picked up a few supplies for my project. I decide to create a small photo book with the many pictures I took during my project. Once I got my supplies I headed over to Proctor, where I spent a majority of the morning organizing and printing my pictures down in Brenda’s office.

Day 10: PowerPoint & Pictures

(Hours: 1:00pm-3:00pm)

It was really weird to get up at 6:30 this morning and not head off to Colby Sawyer. I got into a morning routine and it just didn’t seem right that I was staying home. However, I’m sure I will get used to it once again. Today was relaxing but I did do some work in the afternoon. I worked on two things today, my PowerPoint, and my pictures.

Weekly Reflection #2

My last week at Colby-Sawyer College was awesome. I felt a lot more comfortable overall, and I ended up learning many new things about various IT jobs. This second week was a full week, and I logged 43 hours of work during the five weekdays. I did a lot different jobs on many different machines, and overall I had a great time.

Day 9: Card Readers & Goodbyes

(Hours: 7:30am-3:00pm)

My last day at Colby-Sawyer College started the same as the last. I opened up and turned on the Tech. Department and Library. After that I headed to David’s Office for my final day of work. I started the day off by imaging some HP D530s (the ones I took out of the old school newspaper office). The D530s are going to be extra faculty computers, for the coming school year.

Day 8: The Network

(Hours: 7:30am-5:00pm)

Again, I started my day opening up the Tech. Department and Library at 7:30. After that I headed over to David’s Office to finish up my Windows 7 image. Things in the morning were a little hectic, as one of the main servers was down, and because of it none of the thin clients were working. This downed server didn’t really affect me so I continued working on the Windows 7 image. I removed a few non-important application updaters, and deleted the test user profiles. After that I used the Local Group Policy to force Windows Media Player to not show the set up wizard on the first start. The last thing I had to do was to try and find a way to stop Microsoft XPS Document Writer. Which is a pseudo printer that Microsoft installs and sets as the default printer. It turns out that you can’t delete it for all users and the Default user, you can only remove it from the current user with a sketchy freeware removal tool.

Day 7: Images & IV's

(Hours: 7:30am-5:00pm)

I opened up at 7:30 again today, and then went straight to David’s Office. It was pretty crummy out today and the walk wasn’t very pleasant. I jumped right into the computer I was working on yesterday. The computer still wouldn’t start up; all I got was a black screen and a cursor. It had to be a problem with the .dll file I edited yesterday to put a default logo on the login screen. Since the computer wouldn’t boot I had to use a boot CD. With this boot CD I was able to go into Windows Explorer and change the authui.dll back to the original that we saved in the same directory under a different name, authui_original.dll.

Day 6: Phones Phones Phones

(Hours: 7:30am-5:00pm)

My day at Colby-Sawyer College started at 7:30, when I opened up the Library and Tech. Department. After it was opened and everything was turned on, I tested another student instructional document. Once I made sure it was right and concise, I headed to David’s office. I started my day off with a bit of grunt work, cleaning phones that were taken out of a dorm. There were about five boxes full, and I worked on them periodically throughout the day.
